The interruption of continuous (cognitive) learning leads us to a shift in how we look at the world and how we view ourselves. Discontinuous learning raises our awareness about our awareness. It allows us to learn about ourselves, alters our mental models, and changes our relationship to the world. Discontinuous learning is subjective in nature and deals more with subtle and not so explicit issues like values, beliefs, attitudes, and ethics.
